Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS):
Powering Renewable Transformation
BESS are utility-scale energy storage solutions that capture surplus electricity from renewable sources like solar or wind and dispatches it when demand peaks or grid reliability requires stabilization. In a traditional system powered by renewables (PV), all energy produced is instantaneously injected into the grid.
At any given moment, the grid will be able to dispatch the electricity produced, if the demand is greater than the supply. When the supplied energy is greater than the demand, with no viable storage options, renewable energy generation may be reduced or, ultimately, curtailed. These systems serve as critical infrastructure for modern energy networks, enabling renewable integration while enhancing grid resilience.
